How Did Mozarts Wife Die

The Fate of Mozart's Wife after his Death

A Tragic End to a Love Story

Constanze Mozart

Constanze Mozart, née Weber, was the wife of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. They married on August 4, 1782, in Vienna, Austria. The couple had six children, but only two survived to adulthood. Mozart died in 1791 at the age of 35, leaving Constanze a widow with two young sons.

After Mozart's death, Constanze struggled to make ends meet. She gave music lessons and sold some of Mozart's belongings to support herself and her children. In 1797, she married Georg Nikolaus von Nissen, a Danish diplomat. Nissen helped Constanze to publish Mozart's music and write his biography.

Constanze died in Salzburg, Austria, on March 6, 1842, at the age of 59. She is buried next to Mozart in the St. Peter's Cemetery in Salzburg.

Legacy

Constanze Mozart is remembered as a devoted wife and mother who worked tirelessly to preserve her husband's legacy. She is also remembered as a talented musician and singer in her own right.
